Over the past month I have been developing and facilitating a new artist in residence project with my friends over at Imaginary Theatre. Here is what Imaginary have to say about the project...
Imaginary Theatre is partnering with New Farm State School and Brisbane Powerhouse to deliver a multi art-form residency project for Year 2 students and teachers, ‘The Thinking Artists’, funded by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
The project will see students, teachers and artists working together as ‘The Thinking Artists’ - an elite group of creative thinkers on a mission to explore the world around them, think deeply about what they see and discover, and reflect on these ideas and concepts by creating individual and collaborative artworks across a range of art-forms including drama, movement, visual art and digital media.
The project aims to equip children with skills in group collaboration, deep thinking and reflection, creative problem solving, and to introduce them to a range of creative processes and techniques across a range of art forms.
‘The Thinking Arists’ will culminate in a sharing event held at Brisbane Powerhouse’s VISY Theatre. This will be an opportunity for parents and family to experience a showcase of the project, and to see the art works that the children have created across the project through performances, video presentations and visual art installations.
