Top Secret Storytellers Update

I was invited back to The State Library again in March to prepare for another season of the storytelling show that I created with Tim Mullooly and Thom Browning. Top Secret Storytellers Clubhouse otherwise referred to as TSSC has definitely seen quite some developments since its' initial presentation at the State Library of Queensland back at the beginning of 2012. Since this time TSSC has been on a regional tour up North with the Brisbane Writers Festival and with the libraries support we have developed various incarnations of the Clubhouse. We currently have three different TSSC shows and have developed accompanying storytelling workshops. This easter we were asked to develop a play based storytelling workshop for children and families. The concept that we came up with for the workshop took the form of an interactive installation work that was complementary to the TSSC set and show aesthetic. The aesthetic of the clubhouse is very much about using easily accessible, recycled, everyday and identifiable materials that our audience could relate to and this is what informed the choices of materials used for the installation and workshop. Thanks to Tiffany Beckwith- Skinner and Walter Stahl two of the other arts workers from the Literacy and Young People's team at the library, Tim and I were able to realise our visions for the TSSC installation and the workshop. This easter show was the first time that we had performed for the larger audience capacity of seventy people instead of the usual thirty. The show still remained intimiate and once again we received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback.
